The biggest misconception about public relations is that it is primarily for large enterprises, large corporations, or celebrities of Hollywood. Nothing could be further from the truth. From my perspective, it is small businesses that most benefit from an effective PR campaign. Why?
Small businesses need to find an effective form of marketing, but they also need to be more focused on budgets and the need to get the most bang for their buck. You can get public relations services from various internet sources.
Think about it. What small businesses can launch advertising or direct marketing campaigns that can fit a corporation with very deep pockets?

And, although marketing and online social media offer smaller companies a real advantage over most forms of traditional marketing, it is often difficult to compete with companies who have the economic means to hire a company to work exclusively on websites, blogs, social media they, analysis, AdWords campaigns, etc.
There would be no way that small businesses can compete using other forms of marketing. Indeed, as I mentioned earlier, net and social media is a great leveler. Small companies can compete as never before through the internet.
But traditional PR remains a true giant killer when it comes to marketing for small businesses. One or two are placed media hits that can help launch a company. If the company then took that media coverage and strengthen it on the internet, media hits are becoming stronger.
